Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are you Insured?
A: Yes I am insured by Specialty Insurance Agency and also have a certificate for stage safety and ethics.
Q: What is Hypnosis?
A: Hypnosis is a higher state of awareness. When a volunteer decides to be hypnotized their attention becomes more focused on the suggestions that are given than on what is going on around them. They are not giving up their “free will” or being “CONTROLLED” by the hypnotist. The volunteer can either choose to accept the suggestions or not. All hypnosis is self hypnosis. The hypnosit is only a trained guide to assist you in experiencing the phenomena. People will not do anything against the moral or ethical values, however they will find some hidden talents that they didn’t know existed.
Hypnosis is not a loss of consciousness. It may look as if the volunteers are “unconscious”, but in reality their mind and their senses have been overloaded with suggestions so when the hypnotist says “sleep” the mind basically says AAHHH I can relax now.
People do not become “stuck” in hypnosis. Some people really love the feeling of being hypnotized. It is very relaxing as you can tell if you have ever seen a stage show. Hypnosis equals between 4-6 hours of sleep. People that “choose” not to come out of the trance will eventually come out of it when the suggestions stop or they will just fall asleep. Hypnosis is all about one that chooses to accept the suggestions that are given. The hypnotist doesn’t have “special powers.”
Anyone with “normal” intelligence can be hypnotized. Those of you that are willing, are able to concentrate and follow directions will be good subjects. There are times where the “subconscious” and the “conscious” mind don’t agree in this case the subconscious usually wins at which point the outcome is the volunteer is given a round of applause and is asked to have a seat in the audience.
Examples of every day hypnosis. Have you ever driven down the road and missed your turn? Have you ever been in such a hurry to leave and couldn’t find your keys and later realized that they were in your hand all that time you were looking for them?Or, have you ever read a book and felt that you were actually a part of the story? All of these are examples of hypnosis. This is commonly referred to as daydreaming or being distracted. It is all a natural occurrence.
Now that you have the basics of what hypnosis is, if you haven’t already, go to the next local hypnosis show and Experience it for yourself.
